Kohleausstieg Berlin und Fridays for Future rufen am 29. August zur "Coal & Boat" Lauf- und Bootsdemo vors Kraftwerk Reuter West gegen die Pläne von Vattenfall auf, in Berlin bis 2030 Steinkohle, bis 2050 Erdgas und längerfristig große Mengen an Müll für Wärme- und Stromerzeugung zu verbrennen. Wir brauchen eine vollständige regenerative Energieversorgung bis 2035 und sagen:
"STOPPT KOHLE, GAS UND MÜLL! Erneuerbar geht anders".

Die gesamte Wärmeerzeugung Berlins ist für ca 50% der CO2 Emissionen der Stadt verantwortlich.
Mit der Demo wollen wir das Thema „Wärme“ ins Bewusstsein rücken und für eine echte, ökologische Wärmewende streiten.
100% erneuerbare Wärme ist möglich und nötig! Lasst uns Vattenfall einen Strich durch die fossile Rechnung machen!
Wir laden euch ein, bunt und laut an der „Coal & Boat“ Demo mitzuwirken!

Sowohl die Bootsdemo als auch die Laufdemo starten um 12 Uhr in Spandau (Park Krienicke) und werden durch Spandaus Innenstadt führen
und später das Kraftwerk Reuter West von Wasserseite aus umkreisen.
Wenn du zur Bootsdemo möchtest, melde dich bitte frühzeitig unter info@kohleausstieg-berlin.de und gib an, ob du mit eigenem Boot kommst,
oder ob du auf ein SUP oder Kanu möchtest (wir können eine begrenzte Anzahl von Plätzen organisieren).

Hinweis: Wir werden gemeinsam die Corona-bedingten Sicherheitsmaßnahmen umsetzen: nur gleiche Haushalte und enge Bezugspersonen
zusammen auf ein Kanu; Abstände von 1,5m auf allen Booten bzw. tragen von Masken. Außerdem werden wir auf Abstände zwischen den Booten achten
und auch Ordner*innenboote dabei haben.

Hintergrund
Noch immer verbrennt Vattenfall in Berlin in den Kraftwerken Reuter West (Spandau) und Moabit Steinkohle und produziert damit knapp 2 Millionen Tonnen CO2 pro Jahr (2019).
Am größeren der beiden Standorte, Reuter West, soll noch bis zum Jahr 2030 Steinkohle für die Erzeugung von "Wärme" fürs Fernwärmenetz verheizt werden.
Ab 2031soll das Kohlekraftwerk durch ein Gaskraftwerk ersetzt werden, dass bis 2050 auch fossiles Gas (Methan) verbrennt.
Doch die Emissionen durch Abbau, Transport und Verbrennung von Gas sind können (je nach Fall) sogar noch klimaschädlicher als Kohlekraftwerke sein.
Ferner soll in Zukunft mehr Wärme durch Müllverbrennung produziert werden. Auch das ist keine Klimafreundliche Alternative.

Deswegen rufen wir auf zur Demo "Stoppt Kohle, Gas und Müll!", denn "Erneuerbar geht anders". Wir fordern vom Berliner Senat, sich an den Koalitionsvertrag zu halten und noch in dieser Legislaturperiode ein Erneuerbare-Wärme-Gesetz und einen Fahrplan für sozialverträgliche energetische Sanierungen auf den Weg zu bringen.
Für eine 100%ige Erneuerbare Wärmeversorgung in Berlin!

The alliance "Kohleausstieg Berlin" and Fridays for Future are calling on August 29 for the demonstration "Coal & Boat" (by boat and by feet) in front of the power plant "Reuter West" against Vattenfall's plans to burn hard coal in Berlin by 2030, natural gas by 2050 and, in the longer term, 

large amounts of waste for heating and power generation. We need a full regenerative energy supply by 2035 and say:
"STOP COAL, GAS AND WASTE! Renewable is different".

The entire heat generation in Berlin is responsible for around 50% of the city's CO2 emissions. With the demo we want to raise awareness of the topic of "warmth"
and argue for a real, ecological turnaround in heating. 100% renewable heat is possible and necessary! Let's end the fossil fuels deadlock!

Both the boat demo and the running demo start at 12 a.m. in Spandau (Park Krienicke) and will lead through Spandau's city center and later
encircle the Reuter West power plant from the waterside.

Background
Vattenfall is still burning hard coal in the power plants Reuter West (Spandau) and Moabit power in Berlin, producing almost 2 million tons of CO2 per year (2019).
At the larger of the two locations, Reuter West, hard coal is to be used until 2030 to generate "heat" for the district heating network.
From 2031, the coal-fired power plant is to be replaced by a gas-fired power plant that will also burn fossil gas (methane) by 2050.
But the emissions from the extraction, transport and combustion of gas can (depending on the case) be even more harmful to the climate than coal-fired power plants.
Furthermore, more heat is to be produced by incineration of waste in the future. These are not climate-suitable solutions!

That is why we call for the demo "Stop coal, gas and waste!", Because "Renewable is different". We call on the Berlin Senate to adhere to the coalition agreement
and to launch a renewable heating law and a roadmap for socially acceptable energy renovation before the end of this legislative period.
For a 100% renewable heat supply in Berlin!
